A bridge to insight and change

A bridge toward what comes next.

Sometimes life brings situations where your own ways of coping no longer feel enough, or you have lost your sense of direction. It can help to pause, be heard and explore together what is happening in your life, relationships or work.

Oivalluksen kaarisilta is a journey you do not have to make alone. Just as an arched bridge supports a person crossing from one shore to another, insight can help you see your situation in a new light and find the next step.

You do not always need to know what lies ahead. Sometimes finding a small sense of direction and taking one step forward is enough. In time, a new view may open up, with room for change and hope.

Every change begins somewhere. Sometimes it begins with an insight.

Services

Different situations call for different kinds of support. Short-term cognitive psychotherapy and crisis conversations offer individual support. Stabilisation groups provide a chance to grow stronger together. Workplace mediation supports teams, while intercultural training creates space for shared learning and new insights.

Short-term cognitive psychotherapy

In-person appointments in Porvoo are currently available for women and couples. Men can attend online.

Sometimes your thoughts or patterns of behaviour begin to feel burdensome or hard to understand. Do difficult thoughts seem to take over or guide what you do? You may not always understand why you react in a particular way, or you may feel that you are not entirely free to choose how to respond.

Short-term cognitive psychotherapy helps you understand your experiences, thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour. The work focuses especially on the present and the future. Together, we can identify limiting thoughts and beliefs and explore new ways of relating to them and acting.

We also work with your strengths and resources. The aim is to deepen your understanding of yourself and strengthen your ability to influence your own life.

Crisis conversations

An event can sometimes stop you in your tracks and unsettle familiar everyday life. A crisis may be related to a loss, a relationship, a change, work or another unexpected situation.

Crisis conversations offer a calm place to pause and talk about what you are going through. They provide support when your thoughts and feelings feel too heavy to carry alone. Together, we can make sense of the situation, reflect on your thoughts and feelings, and look for ways forward.

Sometimes one conversation is enough. At other times, a few meetings provide the support you need to work through the situation and find your direction. You do not have to know in advance how many meetings you need. We can decide together what feels right for you.

Stabilisation groups

A stabilisation group offers a safe space to pause and attend to your experiences and feelings. In the group, you can gently work with difficult emotions, strengthen your resources and better understand how earlier experiences or possible trauma may affect your mind, body and daily life.

You never have to share more than you want to. The aim is not to examine traumatic experiences in detail, but to better understand your situation, strengthen your sense of safety and find ways to support your wellbeing.

The group uses stabilising methods that build on personal resources. They can help you recognise your needs, feelings and reactions and find workable ways to manage strain.

Groups that meet a few times can also suit immigrants of different ages. Together, participants can strengthen everyday resources, a sense of safety and confidence in their ability to cope.

Workplace mediation

Workplace mediation helps build a more functional and safer working community. Restorative mediation makes space to address difficult situations, hear everyone involved and find solutions together that support future cooperation.

Mediation need not focus only on resolving an existing conflict. Talking together can also reveal patterns within the workplace, help agree on shared ways of working and rebuild trust. Mediation can therefore help prevent future difficulties and support wellbeing at work over time.

I offer restorative mediation for workplaces, with an emphasis on being heard, increasing understanding and building better cooperation. I also have experience mediating in multicultural workplaces, where different backgrounds, experiences and ways of working may bring particular considerations to cooperation.

  • Professionals working with immigrants in the public, private and third sectors.
  • Immigrants and groups from different backgrounds, according to their needs.
  • International students who need cultural orientation and support in settling into a new environment.
  • Employers of immigrants who wish to strengthen intercultural understanding and cooperation in their teams.

About me

I am Heini Sirén from Porvoo. I meet each client with warmth and respect and treat everyone as an individual.

My work brings together expertise in psychosocial support, long experience in multicultural social work, therapeutic training and skills in trauma and crisis work. I use these to build on people's strengths in different life situations.

It matters to me to see people as experts in their own lives and help them find new perspectives and possibilities. I encourage individuals and groups to recognise and use their strengths when facing change, a crisis or another difficult period.

More than 30 years of work with refugees, immigrants and multicultural communities have deepened my understanding of different life situations and cultural backgrounds. I believe that being heard, reflecting together and even a small insight can open a way towards a new direction.
